According to the March of Dimes Website; the 2017-2020 average of preterm births are:
United States: 10.1%
North Carolina: 10.6%
Forsyth County: 12.2%
"In 2020, 1 in 9 babies was born preterm in Forsyth County." (MarchofDimes.org)
This organization was started in honor of our daughter Love. Love was born at 1 pound 9 ounces. Love was born 3 months early and stayed in the NICU for 98 days. One Love Strong Foundation began shortly after the birth of Love. In Love's early months we provided snacks and meals for the NICU staff where Love was staying. We also provided enough books to give to each family during Mother's Day. We also donated supplies to Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center NICU Department.
We are a group of like-minded individuals who are passionate about the increasing amount of premature and urgent births as well as the families who have to spend weeks and sometimes months away from their babies as they fight for their lives in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Throughout each year, we host activities to raise awareness of these concerns as well as for the benefit of families of babies who graduated from the NICU.
Our mission is to empower families who have experienced preemie/preterm or urgent births through advocacy, emotional and financial support, education, and prevention by connecting them with other community resources.
Our vision is to aid in the reduction of premature/urgent births and infant mortality by educating pregnant women, as well as those who plan to become pregnant, about risk factors that lead to early births and SIDS.
